Here’s the video of the Ukrainian Su-27 that Landed Yesterday in Romania (likely because its airfield was destroyed by Russians) after having been Intercepted by RoAF F-16s

The video in this post shows the Ukrainian Air Force Su-27 fighter jet landing at the RoAF 95th Air Base in the northeastern Romanian city of Bacău

On Feb. 24, 2022 a Ukrainian Air Force Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker landed in Romania after having been intercepted by Romanian Air Force (RoAF) F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets.

The video in this post shows the Ukrainian fighter jet landing to the RoAF 95th Air Base in the northeastern Romanian city of Bacău.

The two RoAF F-16 Fighting Falcons were scrambled to intercept the Su-27 while it was approaching the national airspace. After having carried out a visual identification of the Flanker, the F-16s escorted it at Bacău.

After the jet landed the Romanian Ministry of National Defense said in a statement that “After landing, the Ukrainian military pilot made himself available to the Romanian authorities, and the legal measures required in these situations will be taken.”

As we explained yesterday, since Moscow identified Ukrainian military airfields and aircraft on the ground as primary targets for its air strikes we assumed that the Su-27 pilot had to land in Romania because he probably had nowhere else to land.

A claim confirmed also by Intelsky on Twitter, said:

‘Russia has destroyed 11 Ukrainian airfields and a naval base thus far, claimed Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.

‘That’s explain why Ukrainian Su-27 fighter aircraft lands in a Romanian airbase.’

Another Tweet in response to that of Intelsky instead said:

‘According to the news here, the plane instruments was jammed and the pilot got lost and needed a place were to land due to low fuel.’

Stay tuned for additional updates if further details on this story had to come to light!
