Polish Air Force MiG-29 Fighter Jet Crashes, injuring pilot

The general command of the Polish Armed Forces’ press office has reported that the MiG-29 pilot has been found and taken to a hospital.

On Mar. 4, 2019, a Polish Air Force fighter MiG-29 fighter jet
from 23rd Tactical Air Base has crashed in the woods in Mazovian Voivodeship (Mazovia Province).

The pilot of the MiG-29 ejected, according to a spokesman for the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces Lieutenant Colonel Marek Pawlak.

The general command of the Polish Armed Forces’ press office has reported that the pilot has been found and taken to a hospital. No more people were injured in the incident.

Ten fire brigades and police from neighboring Wegrow have reportedly been sent to the place of the incident.

On Jul. 6, 2018, another Polish Air Force MiG-29 crashed during a night flight in the country’s north killing its pilot despite ejecting before the crash. The jet crashed in fields near the town of Paslek during an interception exercise.

On Dec. 18, 2017, a MiG-29 crash-landed in a forest near 23rd Air Base while performing a landing approach. The pilot survived. Reports afterward were contradictory whether he was ejected or not. On Dec. 21, 2017, the MoD confirmed that the pilot did not eject. This was the first crash of a MiG-29 during its nearly 3 decades-long operational histories in the Polish Air Force.
