Blue Angels help actor Rob Riggle with an audition tape for Top Gun: Maverick

Date:

Although he attended flight school while serving with the Marines, Rob Riggle still struggled to stay conscious through the F/A-18’s final turn.

Taken on May 6, 2014, the funny video in this post shows actor Rob Riggle trying to get into the action of Top Gun: Maverick by shooting an auditioning tape, flying in the back seat of a U.S. Navy Blue Angels F/A-18 Hornet.

Most people know Riggle from movies like The Hangover and Step Brothers, but few are aware that Riggle served in the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and was deployed numerous times in Liberia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. Although he attended flight school while serving with the Marines, Riggle still struggled to stay conscious through the F/A-18’s final turn.

As already reported, the internet was set ablaze on Jul. 18, 2019, when the first, Sierra Hotel trailer for Top Gun: Maverick debuted.

A new group of U.S. Naval Aviators will join Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer in returning as Maverick and Iceman, respectively, in Top Gun: Maverick.

The movie will also feature Manny Jacinto (who will be playing a pilot named Fritz in the Top Gun sequel) Ed Harris, Jon Hamm, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, and Monica Barbaro. Many of the details surrounding Top Gun: Maverick have yet to be disclosed, but some of the other casting specifics give us a small indication of the direction of the film. Teller has been cast as Goose’s son and will be Maverick’s new protégé – however, the characters have been rumored to have a rocky relationship as well.

The movie was assigned a theatrical release date of Jul. 12, 2019, last year, but in September, Paramount announced that it had delayed the sequel nearly an entire year, assigning it a new release date of Jun. 26, 2020.
